Valley of Fire

[The subtitle of this post should be "a decidedly un-Vegas trip to Las Vegas."]

After Death Valley we thought we'd continue on our dangerous valley theme and head to the Valley of Fire.  This is Nevada's oldest and largest State Park and here you will find petrified wood and 3000 year old petroglyphs.  And, as the name alludes to, a giant, bright, red rock, very nearly the color of fire, smack dab in the middle.

Due to the overwhelming number of photos I took of this park (274 can be found on Flickr), I plan to post a few entries this week with photos from this park.

We hiked several of the trails moving from the west entrance, through the beehives and Atlatl rock, then up to White Domes and back down and out the east entrance to head towards Hoover Dam.

These first pictures are from the Beehives, which was my first exposure to this glorious wonderland of beautiful rock.
